Ashwani Kumar shines with 4/24, becomes youngest MI bowler to claim two four-wicket hauls.

Mumbai Indians secured their second win of the IPL 2026 season by defeating Gujarat Titans by massive 99 runs on April 20, Monday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After the clash Mohammed Siraj was seen having a light-hearted exchange with his India teammate Jasprit Bumrah.

Following MI's win, Mohammed Siraj who represents GT tried to tease Bumrah using Dhurandhar 2's viral dialogue: "Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi tujhe, Jassi?"

Bumrah wasted no time and jokingly told Siraj to have a haircut and the two speedsters shared a warm hug, which displays their love and respect towards each other.

Notably, Bumrah finally clinched his maiden wicket of the 2026 season by removing GT opener Sai Sudharsan for a golden duck and finished the game with solid figures of 1/15 in three overs. Meanwhile, Siraj also dropped an amazing performance for GT with figures of 1/25 and he was the only bowler from his side who maintained an economy rate below seven.

Ashwani Kumar's scripts history for MI

Pacer Ashwani Kumar played a key role in Mumbai's comeback win against the Shubman Gill-led side. In the second innings, Ashwani removed GT skipper Shubman Gill on a cheap score of 14 runs off 13 balls. Later, the young speedster dismissed key batters like Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan to help MI cross the finish line.

Ashwani finished the game with a match-winning spell off 4/24, which are similar to the figures recorded by him on his IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2025.

While picking up crucial wickets, the left-arm pacer surpassed Jasprit Bumrah to become the youngest MI bowler to take two four-wicket hauls. Bumrah had held this feat since the 2020 season, while before him, the record belonged to Sri-Lankan icon Lasith Malinga.

Ashwin clinched his second four-wicket haul at the age of 24 years and 234 days, significantly younger than Bumrah, who was 26 years 335 days old at the time when he achieved the same milestone for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
