Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson will miss the upcoming clash against Gujarat Titans, which is scheduled to take place on April 28 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Samson who got injured during RR's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against abdominal injury Delhi Capitals (DC), is not fully fit.
As per sources close to Sports Tak, Samson is currently not ready to feature for RR in their upcoming clash against GT. He has been participating in the team's training sessions. He practised will the RR at the weekend. He also missed the last clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. During RR's last IPL clash in Bengaluru, Samson stayed back in Jaipur for his rehabilitation.
In the absence of Samson, Riyan Parag will lead the franchise against Shubman Gill-led GT. Samson got injured on April 16 during RR's outing against Delhi Capitals, he experienced discomfort in his rib area while batting. Samson retired hurt after scoring 31 runs, and subsequent assessments revealed a side strain, sidelining him for the following fixtures.
Before this injury setback, Samson played seven IPL matches where he scored 224 runs at an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of 140. In RR's first three matches, Samson was featured only as a batter due to a BCCI restriction from wicketkeeping.
RR had a forgetful outing in the 18th edition of the tournament, The inaugural IPL champions are currently on number nine with two wins in their nine outings of the tournament.
