Amidst rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala has been called off. The stadium floodlights were dimmed, and the players were instructed to leave the field of play amidst India's Operation Sindoor to neautralise Pakistan's attack. Consequently, spectators were spotted departing from the stadium.

The match was called off shortly after Pakistan's unexpected attack in Jammu and Jaisalmer. The start of the PBKS vs DC game was already delayed by an hour due to rainfall. Later, during the 11th over of the first innings, a floodlight malfunction caused the match to be temporarily suspended, with only one of the light towers functioning while the others failed. However, official confirmation soon followed, announcing the complete cancellation of the match.

In the now-cancelled IPL match in Dharamshala, Punjab Kings won the coin toss and chose to bat first against the Delhi Capitals. Their opening pair, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, provided an explosive start, both achieving half-centuries. The young talent, Priyansh Arya, struck a rapid 70 runs off just 34 deliveries before being dismissed by T Natarajan. Prabhsimran Singh, meanwhile, notched his fourth consecutive half-century in the tournament and was unbeaten on 50 when the floodlight malfunctioned, leading to the match being abandoned.

As a consequence of the abandonment, both Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals have been awarded one point each. This decision implies that the match will not be rescheduled for a later date. Following this outcome, Punjab Kings now have a total of 15 points from 11 matches, while the Delhi Capitals have accumulated 13 points from the same number of games.

Meanwhile, there were no changes in the IPL 2025 points table after the match was called off. PBKS remained at the third spot while DC remained fifth.

If the IPL 2025 doesn't get called off, PBKS will next face Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi stadium on May 11. Notably, the match was earlier scheduled to be played in Dharamsala but now it will be held in Gujarat.

On the other hand, DC will take on Gujarat Titans on the same date at the Arun Jaitely stadium.
