Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is around the corner and the cricket fans across the globe are desperately waiting for the glitzy league's schedule. While the IPL's 18th edition is confirmed to begin on March 21, 2025, the full schedule is still pending. However, the wait is over as Sports Tak has dug out a crucial update on the much-awaited IPL 2025 schedule. Sports Tak has learnt that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce the full schedule of IPL 2025 within the next seven days or so.
Massive update on IPL 2025 schedule announcement
The source privy to the development also confirmed Sports Tak that there are two teams who will be playing their home games at away venue. Notably, Delhi Capitals will play their two home games in Vizag. Meanwhile, 2008 IPL title holders Rajasthan Royals too will play their two home matches at neutral venue, which is yet to be decided.
Earlier, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla confirmed that the cash-rich league will commence from March 21 with full pomp and show. Meanwhile, the final is expected to be held on May 25. Reportedly, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will host the first two playoff matches, while Eden Gardens in Kolkata will be the venue for the second playoff and the final.
Notably, IPL 2025 season will align with the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct regulations for players. Previously, the IPL had its own set of rules, but it has now adopted the ICC's guidelines, which apply to all leagues.
The ten IPL teams will sport a fresh look in the upcoming season following the mega-auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in November. A total of 182 players were sold for a combined Rs 639.15 crore over the two-day event where franchises focused on bolstering their squads after retaining their core players.
Of the 574 players who went under the hammer, some high-profile players, including those with successful IPL track records, attracted significant bids. India's wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, became the most expensive player in IPL history, fetching a price of Rs 27 crore. He was followed by Shreyas Iyer (Rs 26.75 crore) and Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 23.75 crore). However, several star players, such as David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, and Shardul Thakur, went unsold, receiving no bids.
