Delhi Capitals’ wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel is in troubled waters as a police complaint has been lodged against him by a woman who alleged that he promised to marry her and engaged in a sexual relationship. Porel is also facing allegations of assault and criminal intimidation.

Porel has been playing for DC since 2023. The young Bengal wicketkeeper-batter has been on India A team's tours to UK and Australia as well. The 23-year-old has denied all allegations.

The woman and her mother field the complaint at the Mogra Police Station in Hooghly district on June 23. The police have begun their investigation.

As per the complaint, the woman alleged that they have been in a relationship for the past three years. However, the cricketer started distancing himself after differences between them in 2025.

Porel has in turn accused the complainant of using his name as he is playing well. He said that is yet to speak to the police about the allegations.

"I am playing well now, so various things are coming up," Porel was quoted as saying in the media.

"I will talk about this when the police investigate. I have not spoken to the police yet," he added.

After IPL 2026, Porel shines in Bengal Pro T20 League

In the 2026 edition of the IPL, Porel got just four chances to bat and scored 108 runs, including a half-century against Rajasthan Royals (RR). He was retained for Rs 4 crore by the franchise.

Recently, he played in the Bengal Pro T20 League where he was the fourth-highest run-scorer. From six games, he scored 275 runs at an average of 68.75 and strike rate of 159.88. He scored three half-centuries in the season. His best in the season for Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers was an unbeaten 94 off 53 balls, featuring six sixes and seven fours.

Porel’s domestic cricket career

Porel made his domestic cricket debut for Bengal across formats in 2022. He has played 32 first-class and 23 List A games. He has a ton in red-ball cricket and 12 fifties. In the One-Day format, he has two centuries and five fifties.
