CSK secured a comprehensive 83-run victory over GT

CSK capped off their IPL 2025 campaign on a high

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finished off their IPL 2025 campaign on a highly positive note and secured a dominant 83-run victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi stadium on May 25.

Fifties from Devon Conway (52) and Dewald Brevis (57) powered CSK to a humongous total of 230/5 in 20 overs before the bowlers delivered a brilliant performance and broke the backbone of GT's batting order. The hosts were only able to post a total of 147 before getting bundled out.

Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad picked up 3-wickets each and Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with two as the GT batting order crumbled like a pack of cards.

The match didn't make much change to the points table as GT remained on top with 18 points and CSK finished the season at the bottom with 8 points. However, the defeat has put GT's bid to finish in the top two in serious jeopardy.

Devon Conway and Dewald Brevis' fifties carried CSK to a huge total

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre helped in giving CSK a powerful start to the innings and played an entertaining cameo of 34 runs from 17 deliveries. The opening stand was broken for 44 by pacer Prasidh Krishna in the fourth over, however it didn't put an end to GT's problems as Devon Conway formed a great partnership with Urvil Patel.

Conway (52) scored a fabulous fifty while Urvil also played a good cameo of 37 and the duo helped the visitors get close to the 150-run mark. The GT bowlers were further punished by Dewald Brevis who played a fiery innings of 57 runs from just 23 deliveries as CSK ended up posting a mammoth total in 20 overs. The hosts were only able to pick a total of five wickets with Krishna being the standout performer and recording figures of 2/22 in his four-over spell.

In reply, the GT batting order faced major problems in the powerplay and ended up losing skipper Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford in consecutive overs and were restricted to 30/3 at one stage. The duo of Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan tried to steady GT's ship, but both of them ended up losing their wickets to Ravindra Jadeja in the 11th over.

A late cameo of 20 by Arshad Khan saw GT get bundled out after posting a respectable total of 147 as CSK recorded their biggest win of the season.

Though the 83-run victory doesn't mean much for CSK as they still finished their campaign at the bottom of the IPL standings, GT's chances to finish in the top two took a serious hit. The race for top two is still wide open as any team out of the four can make it to the first two spots.
