Punjab Kings batter Sashank Singh lavished praise on India captain Rohit Sharma ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 which is scheduled to start from March 22. Shashank said that Rohit is his dream captain and he is hoping to play under his captaincy at least once. India ODI and Test captain Rohit is the joint-most successful skipper in IPL history as he has won 5 titles during his time in the tournament.

PBKS star Shashank feels that Rohit backs his players and gives them a lot of chances to perform. Shashank also believes that Rohit is a very smart captain and revealed that he is a fan of the 38-year-old's on-field banter.

"Everyone says that he [Rohit] backs his players to the hilt; gives them plenty of chances. He is a very smart captain. His one-liners (on the field) are also quite funny. If you ask me one captain I would want to play under, it will be Rohit Sharma," Shashank said . "He is from Bombay. I have also batted with him once. He was not the captain back then. I want to play under his leadership, that's my wish" said Shashank Singh on Shubankar Mishra Youtube channel. 

 

 

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the tournament opener at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. PBKS will start their IPL 2025 campaign against GT on March 25. On the other hand, MI will face CSK in their opening clash.

Rohit who guided MI to five IPL titles left his captaincy before IPL 2024 and the Mumbai-based franchise appointed Hardik Pandya as his successor to lead the side. Both Rohit and Shashank Singh will be seen featuring against each other in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. PBKS will face MI on May 11 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala.
