In a surprising turn of events, it has been claimed that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni might not participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which will take place on Monday, May 18 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The former CSK skipper suffered a calf injury before the start of the season, due to which he hasn't played a single game this season.

Ravichandran Ashwin makes big claim on MS Dhoni

Former India spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has shared a post X (FKA Twitter) claiming that MS Dhoni might not play today's game against SRH, saying no batting change could take place in the playing XI. However, Ashwin believes Akeal Hosein could get back in the lineup, if Dhoni is not playing.

"Not happening today! In 2027? May be," wrote Ashwin. "Don’t think any batting changes will happen," Ashwin added.

However, Ashwin has hinted towards the possibility of MS Dhoni playing for the Yellow Army for another season in 2027. If he is actually signalling this, then this is a big news for all the Dhoni and CSK fans, as everyone wants to see him play for one last time.

Prior to the game, it was Ashwin who reported that Dhoni might play against SRH, as it is the last home game for the five-time IPL champions, and the former India skipper wants to end his T20 career in front of the Chennai crowd.
