Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins confirmed that there were conversations after they were bowled out for 86 in the run chase of 169 against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad. SRH batters’ all out attack approach hurt them as they suffered a NRR-denting loss last week. On May 18, SRH showed a measured approach in the tricky run chase of 181 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) getting over the line with an over to spare. Cummins admitted that SRH are not known for responsible batting. But, they understood what needed to be done after observing the nature of the pitch while they were bowling first.
“Yeah, I wouldn't say we are famous for responsible batting, but maybe when you ask, you never know,” Cummins said in the post-match presentation on being asked whether there was discussion after 82-run loss to GT.

“Of course, when we were bowling and we felt like it was staying a little bit low. It was gripping, so it wasn't the go out there and bang it. And yeah, credit to the batters, they were fantastic.”
Head falls early but Kishan, Klaasen show maturity in run chase
In the run chase, Travis Head departed for a single-digit score as he lost control of his bat. After the wicket, Abhishek Sharma showed maturity too After powerplay overs, SRH were 45/1. Abhishek fell to left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein in the eighth over.
In the middle overs, Kishan played the anchor role as Heinrich Klaasen nullified the spin threat. It was only in the 15th over, when he was stumped out for a 26-ball 47, Kishan decided to take the attack to the opposition. He got to his fifty from 36 deliveries.
Kishan scored 70 runs from 47 balls. He lost his wicket when SRH needed six runs from nine balls. SRH finished the run chase in the penultimate over itself. He was named ‘Player of the match’ for his fifth half-century of the season.
