Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) leading wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, pacer Prince Yadav got his maiden ODI call-up for the home series against Afghanistan. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach had predicted that Prince and Mohsin Khan will play for India soon. While Mohsin has had fitness issues, Prince hasn’t missed a single game. Prince was also praised by Virat Kohli who will now play alongside him in the Afghanistan ODI series. On May 19, in the post-match press conference, head coach Justin Langer expressed his happiness on seeing Prince get maiden national call-up. The former Australian opener believes that head coach Gautam Gambhir and the team will be happy to have a bowler with team first attitude.
"I cannot tell you how happy I am for Prince Yadav. His work ethic, the way he goes about his business, his care for the team, he will be a brilliant acquisition for the Indian international team. I mean, he's one of a kind. He's a brilliant person. He does everything. Even if he has brilliant days by himself, he's only happy if the team wins. Very, very high skill. Very, very high character. I'm sure Gautam Gambhir and his team will be delighted to have someone as good as him coming into their side,” Langer told the reporters in Jaipur.
India are without the services of Jasprit Bumrah, injured Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj for the ODI series. Prince is likely to make his ODI debut considering that the think tank wants to have bench strength for the ODI World Cup 2027 on South Africa soil.
