The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is scheduled to restart from May 17, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders for the 58th match of the tournament which is scheduled to take place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This will be the second time that RCB and KKR will play against each other in the 18th edition of the tournament.
Earlier, both teams faced each other in the tournament's opener clash on March 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where the Bengaluru-based franchise defeated the defending champions by seven wickets to get off to a winning start.
KKR and RCB performance in IPL 2025
RCB had a great season so far, the Rajat Patidar-led side are currently on second in the points table with eight wins in 11 outings of the tournament they have almost qualified for the playoffs. On the other hand, defending champions KKR have struggled throughout the season and they are currently on sixth in the points table with just five wins in 12 matches. The Kolkata-based franchise needs to win all of their remaining matches to stay in the playoffs race.
Bengaluru weather update
As per the weather reports, there will be thunderstorms at Chinnaswamy along with passing showers, so that means there will be a start-stop game, considering the drainage system of the ground. There was a forecast for rain on Friday evening, too, but it stayed away in this part of the city.
What happens if the RCB vs KKR match is washed out?
If the IPL 2025 match between RCB and KKR ended without a result, then both teams (RCB, KKR) will get one point each which will end KKR's chances to qualify for the playoffs. On 11 points, with two games to go, if points are shared, KKR can only make it to a maximum of 14, which will not be enough for a playoff spot. They've already had one game washed out earlier in the season, against the Punjab Kings.
