At this point of time nothing is going in the favor of Kolkata Knight Riders, as their skipper Ajinkya Rahane created an unwanted record in the IPL 2026 game against the Rajasthan Royals, which is currently being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Unwanted record for Ajinkya Rahane

In the second innings, Ajinkya Rahane lost his wicket off a Nandre Burger's delivery. With this he became the batter to score most number of ducks in the history of the IPL as an opener, while achieving the unwanted feat Rahane went past Parthiv Patel's record of 11 ducks. With this, Rahane has become the only opener to have 12 ducks under his belt.

In KKR's last game against Gujarat Titans, Rahane got out on a golden duck off Mohamed Siraj's delivery. The former CSK batter kicked off the tournament with fine half-century against Mumbai Indians in their season opener, but failed to continue his form in the tournament.

Ajinkya Rahane's struggle in IPL

After kicking off the competition with a fiery 67 off 40 balls against Mumbai Indians, the KKR skipper failed to carry forward his red hot form in the league, failing to contribute with the bat. 

The former CSK star has managed to amass 152 runs in six outings for the Kolkata-based franchise at a decent strike rate of 147.57. It was also observed that his strike rate goes down after powerplay.

At the time of writing, Ajinkya Rahane has failed to lead KKR to their maiden win in the competition in their first six-matches. The Kolkata-based franchise sit at the bottom of the table with only one point in hand. Their only point came because of a washed out game against Punjab Kings.
