Although Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are already out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 playoff race, star batter Mitchell Marsh achieved a massive milestone during the ongoing clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur.
The Australian all-rounder became the first-ever LSG batter to aggregate 500-plus runs in two consecutive IPL seasons. Marsh had scored 627 runs during the 2025 edition and has now crossed the 500-run mark again in IPL 2026.
He achieved the feat during the RR vs LSG encounter after Lucknow were put in to bat first following Rishabh Pant losing the toss.
Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis give LSG flying start
Opening the innings for LSG, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis came out aggressively and dominated the Rajasthan Royals bowlers right from the start.
The duo stitched together a brilliant 109-run partnership in just 8.2 overs to put LSG in complete control of the contest. Inglis was eventually dismissed after playing a blistering knock of 60 runs off just 29 deliveries.
Meanwhile, Marsh continued his outstanding form and remained unbeaten on 70 off 38 balls at the time of writing.
The 34-year-old has been one of the few positives for Lucknow in an otherwise disappointing IPL 2026 campaign. Despite the franchise struggling collectively and crashing out of playoff contention, Marsh has consistently delivered impactful performances at the top of the order.
His ability to dominate the powerplay and maintain a high strike rate has made him one of the standout overseas performers of the season.
With this latest landmark, Marsh further cemented his place in LSG’s IPL history books, becoming the franchise’s first batter to record back-to-back 500-plus run seasons.
Mitchell Marsh's IPL number in last two seasons
The 34-year-old batter enjoyed a remarkable IPL 2025 campaign, amassing 627 runs in 13 matches at an impressive average of 48.23 and a blistering strike rate of 164. He also registered one century and six half-centuries during the season.
In IPL 2026, Mitchell Marsh has continued his fine form, scoring 537 runs in 13 matches at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 166. The Australian star has already smashed one hundred and two fifties this season, with one league-stage game still remaining against Punjab Kings (PBKS).
