Story Highlights:

PBKS defeated CSK by 18 runs.

CSK are currently on ninth in IPL 2025 points table tally.

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan slammed the fielding standards of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) where both teams dropped several catches at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Punjab.

After opting to bat, PBKS scored 219/6 as Priyansh Arya slammed an incredible 39-ball century, while Shashank Singh (52*) and Marco Jansen (34*) made significant contributions. While chasing, CSK were restricted to 201/5, with Devon Conway top-scoring with a 49-ball 69. PBKS defeated CSK by 18 runs to register their third win of the ongoing cash-rich league.

Apart from Priyansh Arya's batting performance, the poor fielding display from the two teams is also being talked about in the cricket fraternity. Both teams dropped as many as eight catches in the whole clash. Pathan took his 'X,' formerly known as Twitter took a jibe at the IPL by mentioning the Legends League.

"8 drop catches in the game today. Itne to legend league mein Nahi chorte bhai (we don't drop this many even in legend leagues)," the former India all-rounder wrote on 'X' (formerly Twitter).

CSK has had a forgettable IPL 2025 so far; the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led franchise failed to register a single win after defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) in their tournament opener. The five-time champions are currently on number nine in the points table after losing four consecutive matches in the tournament. CSK will now face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 11 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
