Mumbai Indians' star opener Quinton de Kock etched his name into the record books on April 16, by becoming the first overseas player and only the third cricketer in history to score a century for three different IPL franchises. Representing Mumbai Indians after being acquired for 1.5 crore in the 2026 auction, de Kock reached the milestone in just 53 balls during a high-octane clash against the Punjab Kings at Wankhede Stadium.

This latest achievement completes a unique trifecta for the left-hander across his IPL career. He recorded his maiden century in 2018 while playing for the Delhi Capitals and followed it up with a spectacular, unbeaten 140 for the Lucknow Super Giants during the 2022 season. His performance for Mumbai Indians solidifies his reputation as one of the most versatile and explosive openers in the history of the tournament.

By reaching this landmark, de Kock joins an elite group that previously consisted only of KL Rahul and Sanju Samson. Samson achieved the feat with two centuries for the Rajasthan Royals and one apiece for the Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings. Similarly, KL Rahul has displayed his consistency by scoring hundreds for the Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and the Delhi Capitals, making them the only three players to have ever celebrated a ton for three different teams.

The pair dismantled the bowling attack with a rapid 122-run partnership that came off just 68 deliveries. Naman Dhir provided the initial spark, contributing a brisk 50 off 31 balls before his departure. Meanwhile, Quinton de Kock anchored the remainder of the innings brilliantly, finishing with an unbeaten 112 to propel Mumbai to a formidable total of 195/6.
While Mumbai’s batters eventually found their rhythm, Arshdeep Singh remained the standout performer for the Punjab Kings. He ended his four-over spell with exceptional figures of 3/22, providing the only major resistance against the scoring surge. The stage is now set for a high-pressure chase, with PBKS requiring 196 runs to secure the win.
