Premium Indian pacer Mohammed Shami had a day to forget as he got hammered for 75 runs in his four-over spell against Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings in match 27 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which is being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, on April 12 (Saturday). He became the Indian bowler to concede the most runs in a single match during this clash.
Shami achieves embarrassing record
Mohammed Shami has delivered the second most expensive spell in the tournament's history. Earlier in this edition, Jofra Archer conceded 76 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad and is at the top of this list. Shami surpassed Mohit Sharma, who held the record for the most expensive IPL spell by an Indian bowler after giving away 73 runs against Delhi Capitals in 2024.

Shami came to bowl the final over of Punjab Kings' innings. He had given 48 runs in his three overs. However, Marcus Stoinis hammered his final four balls for sixes. Shami ended up conceding 27 runs in his final over and propelled PBKS' score to 245/6. This is also Punjab's second-highest IPL score.
