The match 61 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 11 has been relocated from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad due to border tensions between India and Pakistan. Sports Tak earlier reported that the match between PBKS and MI is most likely to be shifted because of 'Operation Sindoor' as the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala is near the Pakistan border.
Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) secretary Anil Patel exclusively told Sports Tak that the PBKS vs MI clash could be played in Ahmedabad. The IPL governing body, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reached out to the GCA to host the match at 3:30 PM on 11th May, and the request has been accepted by the GCA.
Earlier, Mumbai was initially considered as an alternative venue, but Ahmedabad was ultimately chosen to avoid giving either team a home advantage.
The BCCI shifted venue because several airports, including those in Dharamsala, Jammu, and Chandigarh, have been shut due to Operation Sindoor.
PBKS are expected to travel to Ahmedabad via New Delhi. The teams will reach Delhi and then travel to Ahmedabad for the clash. PBKS are scheduled to play three matches in Dharamsala this season, against Lucknow Super Giants (May 3), Delhi Capitals (May 8), and Mumbai Indians (May 11). The team secured a 37-run win over LSG in the first of those games.
However, the upcoming clash between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will take place as per the original schedule at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala.
