Story Highlights:

Irfan Pathan picked Noor Ahmad as CSK's biggest problem.

CSK lost their first three matches of IPL 2026.

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan has pointed out that Noor Ahmad is currently a major concern for the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). So far this season, Noor has bowled around 10 overs but has conceded over 100 runs without taking a single wicket. His economy rate of 11.1 has only added to the worries.

After CSK’s 43-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, April 5, Pathan suggested that Noor should make a small change to his run-up to fix his alignment. In that match, Noor ended with figures of 4 overs for 49 runs and no wickets.

“He (Noor) is CSK’s biggest problem right now. He has bowled around 10 overs this season and conceded over 100 runs. He doesn’t have a single wicket. I believe that if he corrects the angle of his run-up, the alignment will improve and his hand, which has been falling on one side, will become straighter as well," Pathan said while speaking on his YouTube video

Noor had come into this season with high expectations after an excellent IPL 2025, where he picked up 24 wickets in 14 innings and finished as the second-highest wicket-taker.

Irfan Pathan for Matt Henry

Pathan also shared his disappointment with CSK fast bowler Matt Henry, saying that someone with his level of experience should be doing better.

“I am very disappointed with his bowling because he brings in a lot of experience. He has had performances and a good economy, but has not been able to perform like that in this league," Pathan said.

“An experienced bowler doesn’t bowl a half volley. Anshul Kamboj dismissed Virat Kohli with a bouncer after seeing him step out. Matt Henry bowled a full delivery even after seeing Virat step out," Pathan added.

Henry also struggled in the same match, giving away 36 runs in his three overs without picking up a wicket. CSK have now lost three matches in a row and are still searching for their first win of the season, currently sitting at the bottom of the points table.
