Gujarat Titans' (GT) chief operating officer (COO) Colonel Arvinder Singh provided a fitness update on Sai Sudharsan, who has recently been out of action due to a rib injury. His last outing came for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He had reported to BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on December 29 and hasn't fully recovered from the injury yet.
Though the upcoming season of IPL is still far away, Sudharsan's injury has raised questions on whether he will be fit in time to feature for GT in the tournament. The left-hand batter was the Orange Cap winner in IPL 2025 with 759 runs in 15 innings and it definitely will be a massive setback for the Gujarat-based franchise if he doesn't featuire in the upcoming campaign.
Injury update on Sudharsan
However, Arvinder dismissed all concerns regarding Sudharsan's injury and has revealed that it is not a major injury. He also confidently stated that the 24-year-old will regain full fitness by the time IPL 2026 begins.
"Sai will be absolutely fit. It's nothing serious... It's an abrasion how they describe it in medical terms. It's not a full-fledged fracture," Arvinder told PTI.
Arvinder on Gill's T20 WC snub
Meanwhile the GT COO also shared his take on Shubman Gill's snub from Team India for the 2026 T20 World Cup that will commence from February 7. The batter failed to perform in the format after making his long comeback during the Asia Cup and wasn't able to play any notable knock.. He didn't manage to regsieter even a single half-century in the 15 innings that he played as an opener. As a result, he was dropped from the set-up for the major tournament.
But, Arvinder labelled Gill's omission as just a "minor hiccup" that happens in the liffe of every sportsperson. He further backed the latter to come back stronger than ever and deliver for the Men in Blue.
"These are minor hiccups that do happen in any sportsman's life. He's already made his stand very clear. He respects the decision of the selectors. And all I can say is, knowing him, he'll come back even stronger as you can see now in the two games that he's played. He'll come back even a better cricketer than what he was you know, going forward," Arvinder said.
