Sameer Rizvi played a brilliant knock of 90 runs as Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by six wickets in their second IPL 2026 clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
DC's chase
Chasing 163, DC got off to a shaky start as veteran opener KL Rahul was dismissed for just 2 runs in the first over by Deepak Chahar. Soon after, Mumbai pacer Jasprit Bumrah ran out Nitish Rana in the second over, putting DC under early pressure.
Rizvi joined Pathum Nissanka and steadied the chase with a 66-run partnership. After Nissanka fell to Mitchell Santner, David Miller came in and added 78 runs with Rizvi before Corbin Bosch dismissed him. Rizvi scored 90 off just 51 balls, but DC needed 12 more runs in 22 balls at that point. Tristan Stubbs then joined Miller, and the duo comfortably sealed the win with a boundary.
MI's batting
For the Mumbai Indians, stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav tried to hold the innings together, scoring a patient 51 off 36 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes. Rohit Sharma also contributed 35 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled. Naman Dhir added 28 runs.
Delhi’s bowlers were tight throughout. Skipper Axar Patel was economical, giving away only 22 runs in his four overs and dismissing Rohit Sharma. Leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam took a wicket for 24 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav conceded 31 runs in three overs.
The pace attack also delivered. Mukesh Kumar removed Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma early in the powerplay, leaving Mumbai two down inside the first two overs. Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan shared the remaining wickets.
Suryakumar tried to accelerate alongside Naman Dhir, and the pair scored 15 runs in the 15th over against Kuldeep Yadav, including two sixes. But soon after reaching his fifty, Suryakumar was trapped leg-before by Ngidi. Natarajan cleaned up Naman in the death overs, and Mumbai continued to lose wickets regularly, finishing well short of the target.
