IPL 2026 Auction: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) jumped into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction with a remaining purse of Rs 25.5 crore. They entered the IPL 2026 mini-auction with a clear strategy to address significant gaps in their squad, notably in the bowling department. Their purse size allows for aggressive bidding, which is the third-highest purse among all participating franchises. This substantial budget was partly freed up through the release of several key players ahead of the auction.

The most notable departure from the SRH squad was India's veteran fast bowler, Mohammed Shami. Shami, who was originally bought by SRH for a whopping Rs 10 crore in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, had an underwhelming season, which fueled speculation that he would be released. Following interest from multiple teams, including rumored bids from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) for a trade, SRH ultimately completed an all-cash trade deal, sending Shami to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for his original purchase price. Further reshaping their bowling attack, SRH also released two specialist spin options: overseas leg-spinner Adam Zampa and Indian wrist-spinner Rahul Chahar. SRH will now look to leverage their substantial remaining purse to secure impactful replacements for the upcoming season.
