Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad is competing against Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings in match 27 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which is being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, on April 12. It is the second clash of the double-header Saturday. Both teams will be eyeing to pick up a big win here. SRH won their first game and after that have been on a losing skid. They are currently at the bottom of the point table after suffering four consecutive losses. On the other hand, PBKS is at the fifth spot and can enter the top four again.
PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first. They are not making a single change in their line-up. On the other hand, Cummins announced that Eshan Malinga will be making his much-awaited IPL debut. He is replacing Kamindu Mendis in the side.
Captains at toss
"We are going to bat. In the last few games we have batted first, we have the ability to post good scores. We want to play some aggressive cricket, that's our mindset at the moment. We have seen that we don't have a fantastic record in the powerplay. We don't have that thought at the back of our minds. Every individual in our team play their brand of cricket. We got to be top notch, need to back our instincts. We have to keep repeating that again and again. Playing with the same team," said Shreyas Iyer at toss.
"It's fine. I think we can chase anything. Not an ideal start. But we are training really well. Everyone is in a good space. We have lost a few in a row, but that isn't ideal. One change. Malinga comes in the side for Kamindu Mendis," Cummins said.
