Dhoni's availability for SRH vs CSK clash uncertain

Despite the encouraging footage, Dhoni’s availability for the upcoming fixture remains uncertain. He has been sidelined for the tournament so far due to a calf strain, and while the initial two-week recovery window provided by the team has passed, there has been no official confirmation regarding his return to the playing XI. His recent activity marks a step forward, following a similarly light stint in the nets prior to the team's match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

CSK ride on winning momentum

CSK heads into this away fixture with significant momentum, having secured two consecutive victories at home. They are now looking to extend that streak to three as they travel to face an SRH side that has won two of its five matches and is determined to defend its home turf. Interestingly, Dhoni had not traveled with the squad for previous away games in Guwahati and Bengaluru, nor had he been present at the Chepauk Stadium on match days, making his recent practice appearance all the more notable.

Across 278 career IPL appearances, MS Dhoni has amassed 5,439 runs in 242 innings, maintaining an average of 38.30 and a strike rate of 137.45. His illustrious record includes 24 half-centuries and a personal best of 84*, solidifying his position as the sixth-highest run-scorer in the tournament's history. Even during a challenging campaign where his team finished at the bottom of the table, he contributed 196 runs with a strike rate exceeding 135.

Looking at his more recent contributions, the 2025 season saw the veteran wicketkeeper-batter maintain consistent numbers. Over the course of 14 matches, he replicated his run tally of 196 at an average of 24.50, while striking at a rate of 135.17. His ability to provide quick cameos in the lower order remained a vital asset for the franchise's batting depth.
