Yuvraj Singh, India’s two-time World Cup winner, has publicly apologised to the country’s only two ODI World Cup-winning captains, Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni, for the repeated comments made over the years by his father, Yograj Singh. “I would like to apologise to Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni,” Yuvraj said in a short teaser video exclusively released by Sports Tak.
For years, Yograj Singh has been critical of Dhoni, accusing him of being responsible for Yuvraj’s omission from the Indian team. His remarks have resurfaced repeatedly in different forms. Yuvraj, however, has mostly stayed away from such controversies, avoiding public responses. In the teaser, he addressed the matter directly, saying, “I have told dad that it's not ok,” showing his discomfort with his father’s comments.

What Yograj Singh claimed?
Yograj Singh has also made headlines for his past allegations against Kapil Dev, claiming that Kapil had threatened him and sabotaged his career in the early 1980s. He even claimed he once went to Kapil’s house with a pistol to confront him. Kapil never responded directly, only making a brief remark, but the allegations caused widespread discussion.
Yograj has long been frustrated over his own omission from the Indian team during Kapil’s era, and these old grievances have often resurfaced. His criticism of Dhoni, though, has recently softened. He said he admires Dhoni now and hopes he continues playing as long as possible. This change came after former chief selector Sandeep Patil clarified that Yuvraj’s exclusion from the team was a decision by the selectors, not Dhoni.
Yuvraj Singh for MS Dhoni
Yuvraj has shared before that Dhoni himself helped him understand his role during his 2017 comeback. Dhoni explained that the team management was not seeing him as part of the long-term plans, which helped Yuvraj accept his situation and ultimately influenced his decision to retire from international cricket in 2019.
