Indonesian women’s team cricket bowler Rohmalia Rohmalia achieved a historic milestone by registering the most outstanding bowling figures against Mongolia in the fifth T20I of the six-match series at the Udayana Cricket Ground in Bali. 17-year-old Rohmalia stunned the cricket world with her performance as she claimed seven wickets on her international debut on April 24, the best bowling figures in T20I cricket history. She bowled three maidens in her 3.2 over spell and didn’t concede a single run. The right-arm off-spinner Rohmalia helped Indonesia women beat Mongolia women by 127 runs.
The teenage sensation surpassed the record of Neitherland’s Frederique Overdijk, who held the previous record with figures of 4-2-3-7 against France during a match in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier at the La Manga Club Top Ground in 2021.
Rohmalia also etched her name in the history books as only the fourth bowler to bag a seven-wicket haul after Overdijk, Argentina Women's Alison Stocks, and Malaysia's Syazrul Ezat Idrus in T20Is. Rohmalia also set a new record for the best figures on T20I debut as she broke the record of Anjali Chand's spell of 2.1-2-0-6 for Nepal against Maldives back in 2019.
