The schedule begins with a one-off Test against Bangladesh from 9-13 October. This will be followed by an ODI tri-series involving Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe between 17 and 23 October. Afghanistan will then host Zimbabwe for three T20Is from 27 October to 1 November, before concluding the season with two Tests against Zimbabwe scheduled for 5-9 November and 13-17 November.

The decision to stage the fixtures in the UAE continues Afghanistan’s practice of hosting “home” series outside the country. The series will give Afghanistan a record four Test matches in a calendar year and provide valuable preparation across all three formats against two familiar opponents. Venues for the individual matches have yet to be confirmed.

The team already played a Test match this year against India back in June, which was held in New Chandigarh. They have played two Tests against Bangladesh so far. They went on to win one and lose the other against Zimbabwe, they have played five, winning two and losing two, with one draw.
