27-yr-old opener smashes 11 sixes in 32-ball 100 as Rajat Patidar's team fails to defend 258-run target

In a high-scoring Madhya Pradesh Premier League 2026 clash on June 11, Chambal Ghariyals opener Ankush Singh wreaked havoc with a 33-ball 101 in the successful run chase of 258 against Rajat Patidar's Gwalior Cheetahs. In the highest run chase of league's history, Ankush smashed 11 sixes, putting Ghariyals in a commanding position by the time he departed in the eighth over.

Chaudhary, Gehi, Patidar take Cheetahs to big total

Earlier, Patidar won the toss and opted to bat first. They lost two early wickets but Parth Chaudhary and Kuldeep Gehi took Ghariyals bowlers to the cleaners. Chaudhary reached fifty from 24 balls. In the 13th over, he departed for a 38-ball 73 featuring six fours and as many sixes. In the 14th over, Gehi hit Aman Bhadoriya for five sixes and a four. He got to his fifty from 29 balls. In the 17th over, Avesh Khan ended Gehi's stay at the crease. He hit nine sixes and four fours in his 42-ball 88.

In the penultimate over, Patidar took on Avesh, hitting four sixes in an over. In the final over Patidar departed for a 16-ball 46. Mangesh Yadav contributed with an 8-ball 21 as Cheetahs posted 257/6 on the board.

Ankush’s powerplay overs carnage

Ghariyals' run chase got off to a fiery start. In the second over, Ankush hit Mangesh for four fours and a six. Shubham Sharma departed for a golden duck but Ankush continued to dominate. He reached his fifty from just 15 balls in the third over. In the next over, he hit Arpit Patel for four sixes. After powerplay overs, Ghariyals had 105/1 on the board with Ankush batting on 87. Ishan Afridi couldn't stop the boundaries and conceded 17 runs. On the first ball of the eighth over, Ankush hit a six to reach his century from just 32 balls, fastest in league's history. After the wild celebration, he lost his wicket off the next ball. His knock featured 11 sixes and six fours. When the opener departed, Ghariyals were 129/1 in 7.2 overs.

Wickets tumble but Bhadoriya takes Ghariyals to shore

Saumy Pandey came into the attack and got Apurve Dwivedi stumped for a 14-ball 27. In the 10th over, Tripuresh Singh fell to Afridi after hitting three consecutive fours. At the halfway stage, Ghariyals had 150 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets. Then, Pandey dismissed Gautam Raghuwanshi for a single-digit score. In the next over, Kartik Parihar knocked over Harshit Dixit.

Bhadoriya arrived at the crease as the team was in trouble despite Ankush's blazing knock. He started making up for the 34-run over he conceded. Rohit Kumar Gupta played second fiddle as Bhadoriya went for a six-hitting spree. Afridi returned to break the partnership with Gupta's wicket. He scored 22 runs from 15 balls. In the 17th over, Bhadoriya reached his fifty from 21 balls. Mayur Singh Patel hit Afridi for a four and a six in the penultimate over. Six runs were needed in the final over and Ghariyals finished the run chase with three balls to spare and three wickets in hand.

This was Ghariyals' fourth consecutive win and they stayed at the top. Cheetahs lost their second match and are in sixth position.
