Australia's Test all-rounder with a batting average of 41.09 and bowling average of 24.54, Beau Webster, has presented himself as an option for the T20I side going ahead. Webster has made an impact for Warwickshire in the ongoing T20 Blast. On June 7, he scored a 61-ball 112 in the run chase against Somerset, helping them chase down 216 with two balls to spare. This was his maiden T20 century in a career than has spanned over line years in the shortest format.
32-year-old Webster had to walk out to bat early in the run chase as Zen Malik was run out for a two-ball duck. Webster got off the mark first ball with a boundary. He hit a couple of sixes in the powerplay overs. In the 11th over, Webster got to his half-century from 35 deliveries. He accelerated after getting past the fifty-run mark.
In the 13th over, he hit Jake Ball for two sixes and as many fours off consecutive deliveries. On the first ball of the 17th over, he reached his century from 54 balls. In the same over, Dan Mousely completed his fifty as well. In the 18th over, he lost his wicket to Lewis Gregory. His knock of 112 from 61 balls featured nine fours and seven sixes.

When Webster departed, Warwickshire needed 25 runs from 13 deliveries. Mousley held his nerves and hit Alfie Ogoborne for three fours and a six in the penultimate over. Five runs were needed off the final over and Ed Barnard departed first ball. But Mousley and Chris Woakes ensured Warwickshire finish the run chase with two balls to spare. Mousley hit nine fours and a couple of sixes in his 36-ball 71. Warwickshire registered their first win of the season after five consecutive losses.
Webster gets big wicket
Earlier, Webster bowled just one over and got the wicket of Tom Banton. Jordan Hermann scored 90 off 48 balls whereas skipper Gregory remained unbeaten of 55 off 26 deliveries as Somerset posted 215/4.
Webster’s best T20 Blast season
Webster has been in good form this season, scoring 288 runs at an average of 48 and strike rate of 146.19. He came close to a century against Northamptonshire but departed for 97. He is currently the leading run-scorer in T20 Blast.
Webster has presented himself as an asset to the T20I side as well. If Australia need reinforcements, he can be looked at as an option who can hit big, bowl pace and spin as well, depending on the conditions.
