Indian cricket and Rajasthan Royals (RR) fans can breathe a sigh of relief. RR skipper Riyan Parag is officially on the road to recovery, entering his rehabilitation phase following a successful shoulder surgery. Taking to social media on the afternoon of June 11, the star batter shared a fresh photo alongside a heartfelt note to give his followers a personal update on his condition and express his gratitude.

Riyan Parag confirms successful shoulder surgery
The injury stems from a persistent shoulder issue that Parag battled throughout the IPL 2026 season. To fully resolve the problem and protect his long-term form, undergoing medical intervention became necessary. With the procedure now safely and successfully completed, the focus shifts entirely to his physical therapy as he gears up to return to the crease.
“For everyone who’s been asking, the surgery is done and went well. The past two years have tested me in ways I never expected. There were good days, frustrating days, and days when simply getting through a game was a challenge. But I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Now comes a different challenge- recovery, rehab, and patience. I’ll be back doing what I love soon. See you on the other side,” Parag wrote in his Instagram post.
Riyan Parag's dismal outing with the bat in IPL 2026
Stepping into big shoes is never easy. The IPL 2026 season marked Riyan Parag’s debut as the full-time captain of the Rajasthan Royals, taking over the leadership mantle following Sanju Samson's departure ahead of the 2025 season. While the homegrown talent successfully anchored the franchise to the playoffs, their championship dreams fell just short. The Royals' campaign ultimately crashed out in Qualifier 2 after a tough loss to the Gujarat Titans.
On an individual level, the 24-year-old experienced a relatively quiet and underwhelming summer with the bat. Across 14 matches, Parag accumulated 309 runs at an average of 23.76, crossing the half-century mark just twice.
Unfortunately, his batting wasn't the only thing making waves. Parag found himself at the center of a social media storm midway through the season when live broadcast cameras caught him vaping inside the dressing room, triggering widespread controversy and intense scrutiny from fans and critics alike.
