Deepti Sharma continues to create history, and she is not stopping anytime soon. The Indian all-rounder has etched her name in the record books after becoming the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20 Internationals.
The right-arm off-spinner reached 171 wickets during India’s emphatic 94-run victory over Thailand in their Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Group A match in Dubai on Sunday. Sharma claimed three wickets without conceding a run in just 1.1 overs, an outstanding spell that also marked her 150th T20I appearance.

The milestone moved her one clear of Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong, who sits on 170 wickets. Sharma is only the third Indian woman after captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana to play 150 or more T20Is, and the 12th woman overall to reach that landmark.
The economical three-wicket haul is also the most economical three-wicket spell by an Indian bowler in Women’s T20Is. Meanwhile, Sharma and Putthawong are followed by Rwanda’s Henriette Ishimwe at third with 164 wickets. The fourth and fifth spots are taken by Sophie Ecclestone (154) of England and Hong Kong’s Kary Chang (153), respectively.
Sharma described the achievement as a proud moment while stressing that her focus remains on improving her bowling and contributing to the team’s success. India’s dominant performance provided the perfect stage for the experienced all-rounder to claim the top spot in the format’s all-time bowling charts.
