Cricket South Africa (CSA) on February 5 announced 12-member squad for the first ODI of the tri-series against New Zealand on Pakistan soil. As the SA20 2025 final is scheduled to be played on February 8, six uncapped players have made the cut. Also, Gerald Coetzee has returned to the ODI squad after recovering from left-hamstring injury.

CSA are yet to name injured Anrich Nortje's replacement in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad. Coetzee may be named Nortje's replacement as the deadline to make changes for the mega tournament is February 11, a day after the clash against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. 

The head coach Rob Walter has placed six uncapped players -- Meeka-eel Prince, Gideon Peters, Eathan Bosch, all-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana, Matthew Breetzke and Senuran Muthusamy. Breetzke and Muthusamy have played T20Is and Tests for South Africa while other four will get their first introduction to international cricket.

When will senior players return?

South Africa will play their second ODI of the tri-series against Pakistan at National Stadium, Karachi on February 12. All the players for the Champions Trophy 2025 squad are expected to join the team ahead of the clash against Mohammad Rizwan's Pakistan. The final is scheduled to be played at the same venue on February 14. 

South Africa have been placed alongside Afghanistan, Australia and England on Group B. Their first clash is against Afghanistan in Karachi on February 21.
