Premier Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf has evolved into one of the most fierce bowlers in world cricket. The right-arm express pacer, who clocks 145 kph on a regular basis, has tormented numerous batting line-ups with his speed and accuracy. Rauf is another of those fast bowlers coming from Pakistan's famed pacers production line and quickly became a force to be reckoned with in white-ball cricket.
When quizzed about his all-time favourite bowler, Rauf snubbed legendary bowlers from his own country like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan and Shoaib Akhtar. In a video shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Rauf named former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn as his all-time favourite bowler.
"Main hamesha Dale Steyn ko follow kar raraha hun jab se main unko dekh raha hun. Unka jo aggression hai woh kaafi pasand hai mujhe. Jis tarah se woh wicket leke aggression karta hai, kosish karta hun ki main bhi ground pe ussi tarah he aggression karun, but mera thoda sa zhaya hi ho jata hai. But Dale Steyn mera all-time favourite hain (Ever since I began watching Dale Steyn, I've been an ardent follower of his. I greatly admire his aggression on the wicket. I've tried to emulate that same intensity on the field, though I feel I fall a bit short. Nonetheless, Dale Steyn remains my all-time favorite)," said Rauf.
Rauf is currently recovering from an injury he sustained during the 2023 Asia Cup match against India. The right-arm pacer is expected to regain full fitness before Pakistan begin their campaign in the 2023 ODI World Cup. With Naseem Shah ruled out of the quadrennial competition, onus will be on Rauf and Shaheen Afridi to lead the Men in Green's attack in India.
