Pakistan men's cricket team advanced to the Asian Games 2026 semifinal without playing a ball against Hong Kong, China in the quarter-final clash on September 28 at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin. Incessant rain played spoilsport and the match was called off early as the umpires saw no signs of possibility of even a five overs per side game. The Sahibzada Farhan-led Pakistan made it to the semifinal as they are the higher-ranked side.
Hong Kong, China had made it to the quarter-final after a 41-run win over Oman. Hong Kong, China had lost to Malaysia in their league game but advanced to the last eight before getting knocked out without playing a ball in the semifinal.

Who will Pakistan face in semifinal?
Pakistan will now play in the first semi-final which is scheduled to take place on October 1 at the same venue. Pakistan will face the winner of fourth quarter-final match between Bangladesh and Malaysia which is scheduled to be played on September 29.

Is India vs Pakistan possible?
An India versus Pakistan clash is only possible if both of them qualify for the final, the gold match, or both of them face defeats in the semifinal match. In case of both teams facing defeats, India and Pakistan will lock horns in bronze medal match on October 3. The medal matches will take place on October 3.
What will happen if India’s game gets washed out too?
The overnight rain and the incessant rain on September 28 threatens a wash out in the second quarter-final match of the day as well. India are set to go up against Darwish Rasooli-led Afghanistan in the knockout match starting 10:30 AM IST. In case, rain and wet outfield play spoilsport again, India will advanced to the semifinals as they are the higher-ranked side. It would mean an end to previous edition’s silver medallists, Afghanistan’s campaign.
In the case of a washout or a win, Shreyas Iyer-led India will face the winner of third quarterfinal which will be played between Sri Lanka and Nepal on September 29.
