Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), following in the footsteps of his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, who is a BJP MLA.

Rivaba shared the news on social media, accompanied by photos of herself and her husband with their BJP membership cards. The BJP recently launched an ambitious membership drive, aimed at renewing the association of existing party members. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first member to join through a missed call to a dedicated number.

While talking to the media Rivaba said that she started the memebership campaign from her own home.

 

"I have started the membership campaign from my home. Yesterday, BJP organized a press conference as part of its membership campaign. The campaign was run by BJP city and district," Rivaba told media.

Rivaba Jadeja, a mechanical engineer by education, joined the BJP in 2019 was fielded by the party from the Jamnagar assembly seat in 2022 where she won the seat by defeating AAP candidate Karshanbhai Karmur. Rivaba married Ravindra Jadeja in 2016 and has also served as the leader of the Rajput community organization Karni Sena.

Following India's triumphant victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja announced his retirement from the T20 international format in June of this year. In an emotional Instagram post, Jadeja described winning the World Cup as the pinnacle of his T20I career. He expressed his gratitude to fans for their unwavering support throughout his journey.

Jadeja's T20I career spanned 74 matches, starting with his debut against Sri Lanka in 2009. During his tenure, he established himself as a valuable player, contributing significantly with both bat and ball. His bowling statistics are impressive - 54 wickets in 74 matches at an economical rate of 7.13.  With the bat, Jadeja played a crucial role in building partnerships, scoring 515 runs at an average of 21.45 and a strike rate of 127.16. While Jadeja bids farewell to T20 internationals, he will continue to represent India in ODIs and Tests, adding his experience and skills to those formats.
