Kishan's East Zone are dominating North East Zone in Duleep Trophy 2026 quarterfinal.

East Zone skipper Ishan Kishan pulled off a stunning stumping while standing up to pacer Abhijit K Sarkar on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy 2026 first quarterfinal clash against North East Zone. Sarkar bowled one down the leg side to top-order batter Ashish Thapa. The batter lost his balance while attempting the shot. Kishan managed to catch hold of the ball, fumbled at start and then pulled off a stunning in one hand as Thapa's leg was in the air.

Thapa departed after scoring 19 runs from 36 balls. Sarkar ended up taking a fifer in 9.5 overs. He got support from Shahbaz Ahmed who bagged three wickets as North East Zone were bowled out for 111 in 42.5 overs.

Big tons by Gharami, Shahbaz 

Earlier, Sudip Kumar Gharami's 146 and Shahbaz's 167 had helped East Zone post 467 on the board despite openers Abhimanyu Easwaran, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and skipper Kishan's early dismissals. Kishan lost his wicket to Pheirojiam Jotin for a score of four runs from nine balls.

East Zone enforce follow-on, set for big win

Kishan enforced follow-on. East Zone are heading towards a massive win by an innings over North East Zone.

With a win, East Zone will advance to the semifinals which will begin on August 30.

When will Kishan play for India next?

If East Zone progress to the final of Duleep Trophy, he may join the Shreyas Iyer-led T20I side just before their three-T20I series in Delhi against Afghanistan. India will play The T20I series is scheduled to begin on September 13. Before that, the Duleep Trophy 2026 final will begin on September 6 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Kishan’s absence from Test side

Kishan is yet to make a comeback to the Test side as India already have two wicketkeeper-batters in the lineup – Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel.

Kishan made his Test debut on West Indies soil in 2023. He was named in the Test squad for series on South Africa soil as well but withdrew citing personal reasons.
