Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly told ICC that there will be no hybrid model for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 and it's their responsibility to bring team India to their nation for the marquee event. Pakistan are the original host of the multinational tournament scheduled to start next year but team India has yet to take a call on whether they will travel to Karachi for the marquee event.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) annual conference has been started today in Sri Lanka's Colombo and the main focus will be on heightened tensions between India and Pakistan including the budget approval for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
"PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear to the ICC that Pakistan will host the 2025 Champions Trophy, and there will be no hybrid model. It's ICC's responsibility to bring India to Pakistan for the event, and not PCB's task," said a report from the Pakistani media house Express News.
This all comes in after BCCI denied sending Indian Cricketers to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 after the Asian Cricket Council made the tournament hybrid and announced Sri Lanka as the co-host of the marquee event where India defeated Sri Lanka in the final to become Asian Champions.
Team India last played a match against Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
