MS Dhoni is arguably one of the most successful captains for India as under his captaincy the Men in Blue won all the ICC trophies at that time. Dhoni also left his IPL captaincy ahead of the opener clash of IPL 2024. The franchise appointed Ruturaj Gaikwad as his successor in CSK.

MS Dhoni's IPL future

Their were reports that IPL 2024 was the last season for Dhoni as a player but the wicketkeeper batter has not yet announced his retirement from the cash-rich league. Interestingly, he could be one of CSK's retentions under the uncapped players' category ahead of the mega auction. If the BCCI amends the retention policy, Dhoni could play the tournament as an uncapped player as he retired five years ago.
