Nepal’s Kushal Bhurtel entered record books as he became sixth batter to smash six consecutive sixes in an over of a T20I match. Bhurtel joined legendary players Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard on the list. He also became the second Nepal batter to achieve the feat in T20Is. Bhurtel smashed six consecutive sixes in an over in Asian Games Men’s T20I Qualifier 2026 match against China at Singapore National Cricket Ground on May 31.
In the ninth over, left-arm spinner Chen Zhuo yue was introduced into the attack. Bhurtel hit him for six consecutive sixes. Zhuo yue's last ball of the delivery was a wide. He ended up conceding 37 runs in his over, the second most by a bowler in T20Is. The most expensive over in T20Is belongs to Vanuatu's Nalin Nipiko who conceded 39 runs against Samoa's Darius Visser. Nipiko's over included three no-balls.
List of batters to hit 6 consecutive sixes in an over in T20Is & ODIs
The first batter to achieve the feat in T20Is was India's Yuvraj who hit England's Stuart Broad for six sixes in T20 World Cup 2007 clash. 14 years later, West Indies' Kieron Pollard did it against Sri Lanka's Akila Dananjaya. In 2024, Dipendra Singh Airee joined the list with six consecutive sixes against Qatar's Kamran Khan. In 2025, Bulgaria's Manan Bashir hit Gibraltar's Kabir Mirpuri for six consecutive sixes.

In international cricket, South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs and USA's Jaskaran Malhotra have hit six sixes in an over in ODIs. Gibbs did it against Netherlands in ODI World Cup 2007 match. In 2021, Malhotra did it against Papua New Guinea.
Bhurtel goes berserk
Bhurtel went on to score 129 runs from 43 balls. He hit 16 sixes and five fours in his blazing knock. His 129 is the second highest score by a Nepal batter in T20Is. The top spot belongs to teammate Kushal Malla with an unbeaten 137 off 50 balls against Mongolia in Asian Games 2023.
Later, Nepal went on to post 313/2, the third highest T20I score. China were bowled out for 92 runs as Nepal registered a 221-run in win their Asian Games 2026 Qualifier campaign opener.
