Why Williamson is out of T20I series against England?

After making himself unavailable for Zimbabwe tour and Australia T20I series, Williamson is set to return for the ODI series against Harry Brook's side. The ODIs will begin on October 26. Head coach Rob Walter said that Williamson is dealing with a “minor medical issues but will return for the ODIs. His last appearance in international cricket was in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against India.

"He's obviously a world class player and we're hoping these two weeks will ensure he's ready for the ODIs against England and the following tour by West Indies," Walter said in a statement.

Rachin is back, no place for Sodhi

Along with Santner, Rachin Ravindra has returned to the squad. Ravindra was ruled out of the T20I series against Australia due to a facial injury he suffered during fielding practice.

"It's great to have Mitch back," Walter said. "Alongside being our leader, he's one of the very best white-ball spinners in the world and his skills and experience will be a welcome addition.

"Likewise, it's nice to welcome back Rachin who was unlucky to miss out on Australia and I know is really excited for this series."

The notable omission in the T20I side is leg-spinner Ish Sodhi. James Neesham has retained his place in the squad.

New Zealand players out due to injury

Ben Sears will miss three to four weeks of action as he is recovering from a hamstring injury. Other players on the sidelines due to their respective injuries are Finn Allen, Adam Milne, Will O'Rourke, Glenn Phillips and Lockie Ferguson. New Zealand missed these players dearly in the T20I series against Australia.
