The Indian cricket teams will not get preferential treatment and will stay at the accommodation already finalised by Asian Games 2026 authorities in Aichi Nagoya, Japan. The Indian cricketers are used to staying in top-rated hotels on foreign tours but it won't be the case during Asian Games 2026 due to lack of hotels in Nagoya. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajiv Shukla doused the controversy and said that he is satisfied with the accommodation allocated to Indian athletes.
"Whatever they (organisers) are providing, we are staying there and we are keeping a watch what kind of accommodation is being given so that our players are comfortable. Definitely those are not of five-star but a good accommodation," Shukla said at the send-off ceremony of the Indian contingent from Delhi.
"Whatever has been offered to our cricketers that accommodation we have got the photographs all the way and the videos also of that, so I think it's comfortable. They (cricketers) will be going and staying there because otherwise the options were to make them stay in Osaka or Tokyo that's far away."

The issue was flagged first by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). It was said that there was lack of proper space in the rooms for athletes to an extent that there will be no place to stand if a player opens their kitbag. But, Shukla addressed the concerns revealing that the cricketers won’t stay in twin-sharing rooms which will leave them ample space. He did not provide further details about the accommodation apart from saying they are comfortable enough.
At the send-off ceremony, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha revealed that there are different category of accommodations for players. ranging from rooms on ship to small villas.
India men’s and women’s team schedule
India women’s cricket team led by Harmanpreet Kaur will begin their campaign on September 17 against hosts Japan. The women's competition's semifinals and final will be played on September 20 and 22 respectively.
Shreyas Iyer-led men’s cricket team is also scheduled to play a historic one-off T20I match against Japan on September 22. The men's team will begin their campaign on September 28. Their quarterfinal opponent is yet to be decided. The semifinals and the final will be played on October 2 and 3 respectively.
