Australia's Travis Head has been crowned as the no.1 Test batter as England's veteran Joe Root slipped two places again. Root registered scores of 21 and 18 in the decider of the Test series against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis slipped three places to eighth following a duck and a single-digit score in the first of two-Test series against West Indies. It led to South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, India captain Shubman Gill and New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra gaining one place each to take fifth, sixth and seventh place respectively. Yashasvi Jaiswal slipped one place as well to take the ninth spot.
New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell closed in on a spot in top 10 with a match-winning century in Nottingham Test. His teammate, opener Devon Conway jumped 14 places to take the 15th spot alongside South Africa's Aiden Markram. England opener Ben Duckett who scored a century in the same Test, moved up three places to 14th.
Other big gainers were Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva (6 places to 21st) and New Zealand captain Tom Latham (12 places to 31st).
Bumrah numero uno again
As Kiwi pacer Matt Henry missed the Nottingham Test, Bumrah isn't sharing the top spot with anyone. With 870 rating points, Bumrah is at the top. After completing 300 wickets, Bangladesh's left-arm spinner Taijul Islam moved up one place to 11th, exchanging places with England pacer Gus Atkinson. Another bowler who completed 300 Test wickets, Kemar Roach went up four spots to 17th. Just above him is his teammate Shamar Joseph who jumped nine places to stay level with India's Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj at 14th spot. Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani moved up six spots to 19th after win over Bangladesh.
Stokes jumps in rankings after farewell Test
England's recently retired captain Ben Stokes bid goodbye to international wicket with six wickets and a fiery 20-ball 30 cameo in the unsuccessful run chase. He moved up two places and retired as third-ranked Test all-rounder. The top spot belongs to India's Ravindra Jadeja, who has 102 more points than second-placed South Africa's Marco Jansen.
With Atkinson moving down two places to ninth, South Africa's Wiaan Mulder and India's Washington Sundar moved up to seven and eighth place respectively. Somehow, West Indies' Shamar Joseph has gained five places to share 11th spot with India's Axar Patel. Joseph had scored an unbeaten 17 and taken two wickets each in both innings in second Test against Sri Lanka.
