Story Highlights:

LSG pacer Mohsin Khan has opted to enter the UPT20 League mini-auction instead of being retained.

The left-arm seamer heads into the auction after an impressive comeback campaign in IPL 2026.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mohsin Khan has opted against the retention route ahead of the 2026 UPT20 League, choosing instead to enter the mini-auction scheduled to be held in Agra on July 24. The decision comes as a surprise considering the left-arm seamer had spent the last two seasons with Kanpur Superstars and was widely expected to be retained by the franchise after regaining full fitness.

Mohsin Khan to test his value in UPT20 mini-auction

Mohsin was among the names expected to feature on Kanpur Superstars' retention list alongside Sameer Rizvi, Adarsh Singh, Shubh, Aaqib Khan, Pankaj and Vineet Panwar. However, the left-arm quick has informed the franchise of his decision to enter the auction instead, opening the door for other teams to bid for one of Uttar Pradesh's premier fast bowlers.

The move marks a fresh chapter for the pacer, who missed the entire previous UPT20 campaign after being retained due to fitness concerns. Having now returned to competitive cricket, Mohsin is keen to explore his options in the league.

Speaking about his decision, Mohsin told Times of India:

"This year, I will go for the auction. I want to explore and go with the flow. I am fit for action."

The 27-year-old had played a crucial role in Kanpur Superstars' run to the 2024 UPT20 League final, finishing with 15 wickets in 11 matches while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.94.

Mohsin impressed for LSG after injury comeback in IPL 2026

Mohsin's decision follows an encouraging IPL 2026 campaign with Lucknow Super Giants after a prolonged injury layoff that kept him out of action for nearly 15 months.

The left-arm pacer made an immediate impact upon his return by striking in his very first over of the season before cementing his place as one of LSG's preferred powerplay bowlers. Across seven matches, he claimed 11 wickets and consistently troubled batters with the new ball.

He also etched his name into the franchise's record books in April by becoming the first LSG bowler to deliver three maiden overs in a single IPL season, underlining the control and discipline that made him one of Uttar Pradesh's most sought-after pace options.
