Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav will reprotedly feature in the Buchi Babu tournament where Sarfaraz Khan will lead Mumbai in the red-ball cricket. As per Indian Express, Suryakumar Yadav informed Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) selection committee chief Sanjay Patil on Wednesday evening about his availability and desire to play the tournament.
The Mumbai team is currently led by Sarfaraz Khan and the tournament is scheduled to kick start from August 15.
“He has informed us that he is available to play in the Buchi Babu tournament and his name will be added to the Mumbai side. Surya has always turned up for Mumbai cricket whenever he is available. In fact he is one of the few players who turn up for club matches in Mumbai maidaans,” a source in the MCA confirmed Indian Express.
Suryakumar Yadav also suggested that Sarfaraz Khan should lead the side and he want to feature as a player.
“We had asked Surya and he suggested that Sarfaraz should continue to lead, and that he will play merely as a player,” a source added.
Suryakumar Yadav was recently seen leading team India in the T20I series where Men in Blue won the series by 3-0. On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan last featured for India during India vs England Test series.

Buchi Babu Tournament
The Buchi Babu is an all-India invitation red ball tournament in Tamil Nadu, marking the ideal preparation for the Ranji Trophy. Delhi, who were the runners-up last year, will not be participating in this edition as most of their players will be playing in the first season of the Delhi Premier League, which starts on August 17.
Mumbai have already announced their squad for the tournament where Sarfaraz Khan will captain the side, here is the squad.
