Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has broken the record for fastest-ever List A (ODIs, One-Day domestic tournaments) ton held by South Africa legend AB de Villiers. In Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 plate group clash against Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar opener reached his 150 from just 59 balls breaking De Villiers’ 10-year-old record.
De Villiers reached his 150 from 64 balls against West Indies in an ODI clash in 2015. He is followed by former England captain Jos Buttler who achieved the feat from 65 balls against Netherlands in 2022.
The youngest centurion in List A cricket history, the 14-year-old Suryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 190. He hit 16 fours and 15 sixes during his 84-ball stay at the crease.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter missed out on breaking the record for fastest double ton in List A cricket. The record currently belongs to New Zealand’s Chad Bowes who reached his double century from 103 deliveries for Canterbury against Otago in the Ford Trophy clash last year.
This was Suryavanshi's seventh List A appearance. He scored more runs in one innings than he did in his first six List A games. Barring the knockouts in the Under-19 Asia Cups, he has been in terrific form of late. After an unbeaten 108 in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025, he scored 171 against UAE’s Under-19 side in December 2025.
What’s next for Suryavanshi?
Next year, Suryavanshi will head to South Africa for a three-match series which will help him prepare for the Under-19 World Cup 2025 which will be hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia. The mega tournament will commence on January 15 with Ayush Mhatre-led side taking on USA.
