Virat Kohli to play Ranji Trophy 2024 after 12 years alongside Rishabh Pant? Star cricketers named in Delhi's probables list for upcoming season

There is a small window for Virat Kohli to play Ranji Trophy as he is retired from T20Is.

Kohli hasn't played Ranji Trophy since 2012/13 season.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been named in Delhi’s list of probables for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced the squad on September 24 after a meeting was held at 5:30 PM. Chairperson Gursharan Singh, Selectors K Bhaskar Pillai, Rajeev Vinaik, chief coach Sarandeep Singh and joint secretary Rajan Manchanda. 
 

If Kohli plays for Delhi, it will mark his return to Ranji Trophy after the 2012/2013 season. The last time he was named in the probables was in 2019. 
 

There are a total number of 84 players on the list of probables. The fitness test of the players will take place on September 26. The venue for the fitness test is yet to be revealed.
 

Small window for Kohli to play Ranji Trophy

It will be interesting to see if Kohli and Pant feature in the Ranji Trophy considering the domestic tournament starts on October 11. Delhi will take on Chandigarh in their first game. However, by that time, Kohli and Pant will be with Team India preparing for the first Test of the three-Test series against New Zealand commencing on October 16 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

The series against New Zealand ends in the first week of November. Since Kohli is retired from T20Is, he may feature in the match against Chandigarh starting November 6 or the one against Jharkhand starting November 13 as India have to leave for Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 starting November 22 at Perth Stadium.
