India's star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is officially set to rejoin the Mumbai squad for their upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Goa on December 31. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar confirmed the development, who noted that Jaiswal is expected to link up with his teammates in Jaipur by either the evening of the 29th or the morning of the 30th.

Jaiswal’s return comes after a brief health scare that sidelined him for Mumbai's first two fixtures of the tournament. Earlier this month, the youngster was hospitalised with severe stomach cramps following a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Rajasthan. Medical tests confirmed he was suffering from acute gastroenteritis, leading doctors to prescribe a mandatory week of rest to ensure a full recovery.

His comeback marks a significant transition for the Mumbai top order. Veteran star Rohit Sharma handled opening duties during the team's first two games, but Jaiswal is now slated to take over that role starting with the New Year's Eve clash at the Anantam Ground.
