Norway head into the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout clash looking to build on their impressive victory over Brazil.

Norway's preparations for their FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final clash against England have come under the spotlight after concerns emerged over illness within the squad. However, the team's medical staff has moved quickly to calm fears, insisting there is no cause for alarm ahead of one of the biggest matches in the nation's football history.

The speculation began after Norway manager Stale Solbakken revealed that a handful of players had experienced illness-related issues during the tournament. Defender Marcus Pedersen missed the Round of 16 victory over Brazil after falling ill on matchday, while striker Jorgen Strand Larsen had also been dealing with a fever in the lead-up to the contest.

Despite the setbacks, Norway produced an impressive 2-1 victory over Brazil thanks to a second-half brace from Erling Haaland, booking their place in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Norway team doctor dismisses illness concerns

Following Solbakken's remarks, reports of a possible sickness bug spreading through the Norway camp quickly gained traction.

The head coach explained that constant travelling, air conditioning, flights and the demanding tournament schedule had taken their toll on the squad, adding that it would not be unusual for a few players to experience minor illnesses during such a long competition.

However, Norway team doctor Ola Sand has now dismissed any lingering concerns, confirming that every player is currently fit and available ahead of the crucial encounter with England.

"All players are healthy now."

He also insisted the situation had remained under control throughout the tournament despite the rumors circulating around the squad.

"We are in control."

The update comes as a major boost for Norway, who will need their strongest available squad as they prepare to face one of the tournament favourites.
