At the FIFA World Cup 2026, Adams started South Africa's group-stage matches against Mexico and the Czech Republic before coming off the bench in the team's 1-0 victory over South Korea, a result that secured Bafana Bafana's first-ever place in the knockout stages of the tournament. Their memorable campaign eventually came to an end with a defeat to Canada in the Round of 16.
Adams' passing has sent shockwaves across the South African football community, with tributes pouring in for one of the country's brightest young talents.
Speaking about the heartbreaking news, Jayden Adams' mentor Brendine Johnson said:
"This passing has ripped everybody apart... The guy was really positive on returning back after the World Cup, knowing what lies ahead. He was prepared."

A product of Stellenbosch FC's youth academy, Adams established himself as one of South Africa's most promising midfielders before earning a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
