Is Kevin De Bruyne leaving? Napoli star drops brutal truth bomb

In a candid interview with Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad, the Manchester City legend has cast doubt on his long-term stay at Napoli, revealing frustrations with the club’s playing style and unfulfilled promises made upon his arrival. He said:

“I still have one year left on my contract, but I want to have a conversation with Napoli.”

The former Sky Blues player added:

“Last year, too, certain things were said: ‘We’ll play a certain way, we’ll do this and that,’ but not much of it actually happened, and that’s a shame. I want to enjoy when I play football.”

De Bruyne joined Napoli in June 2025 on a free transfer after a decade of dominance at Manchester City, where he won six Premier League titles, the Champions League, and numerous other honors. The move to the Serie A champions was seen as a major coup, pairing the creative midfielder with Antonio Conte and international teammate Romelu Lukaku.

At 34, De Bruyne is entering the twilight of his career and has made it clear that enjoyment and playing style now take precedence over other factors. With just one year remaining on his deal, he is seeking assurances from Napoli’s hierarchy before committing further.
