Deepika Kumari made it to the quarterfinals of the women's individual event at the Paris Olympics 2024. On the other hand, India's Tarundeep Roy, who participated in the men's individual event, lost in his opener clash. Tarundeep was lost to Britain's Tom Hall by 4-6 on July 31. Hall finished fifth in the last edition of games hosted by Tokyo.
In his first set of round 32, Tarundeep finished with a 27-27 point tie. After that, Tom Hall made a comeback and won the second set 28-27. While in the third set, Tarundeep made a comeback and won it 28-25. Tom again won the fourth set with a score of 29-28 and the fifth set ended in a tie with a score of 29-29. With these points, Tom earned six points by getting two points for winning each set and one point for a tie and Tarundeep's journey ended by finishing with four points.

Earlier, Deepika Kumari, who is representing India in her fourth Olympics, won the Round of 32 match 6-5 and then the Round of 16 match 6-2 to make it to the pre-quarterfinals. Apart from Deepika, Bhajan Kaur has also reached the pre-quarterfinals in the women's category. While in men's, Dheeraj Bommadevara has also been eliminated after losing and now only Praveen Ramesh Jadhav is left with hopes in the men's individual round of 64.
